I’m a busy dad who wanted to get stronger. Starting this site is about my goal to, as a regular person, motivate and influence busy people to take manageable steps every day to promote life-long strength through training that you can do at home with 45 minute workouts.
Here are my reasons for strength training. My goal in setting up this site is to help people to become happy and healthy, to guide in setting fitness goals, and to physically challenge the people who read this blog. When I decided to start lifting weights, I developed a workout plan plan that would allow me to do 2 sets of one exercise in the mornings before work and complete the workouts in 45 minutes or less. Click on why only 2 sets for further detail. The workout plan has shown impressive results.
About 15 years ago, I used to do powerlifting with a group of guys in St. Louis at the Ultimate Gym. It was a great group and everybody helped to motivate each other. I wanted to have the same intensity as those workouts but find it difficult to do now with 2 young children so I decided to lift weights at my house. Click on which lifts to do to see the different exercises.
The work-out spreadsheet that I follow for the squat, deadlift, bench press, overhead press, and barbell rows, is the Ed Coan 14 Week Peaking Program (14 weeks to increase your max lift by 11%). Click on Sample Work-Out Schedule to see a typical weekly work-out schedule. Other than doing the exercises themselves, nutrition and sleep are just as important.
That’s about it for me, so let’s get started. For more workout tips, please follow my posts where I show how, over time, you can get stronger and add muscle mass by doing simple one exercise work-outs that only take 45 minutes or less.
